Why Record With Us? Why
record at our studio? Simple, You get great quality recordings for a song. Lets face it,
while around 50% percent of recording quality is due to the equipment used, in
the end, your recording is only as good as the engineers and producers working on
it. You can't buy a good ear, you either have it or you don’t. We have it. When
setting out to make a recording one of the main problems encountered is focus. The expected outcome
of the
project becomes blurred as the recording process develops. We will help you keep that focus
throughout your stay with us. Here
at EMS we like to think we have a grounded approach to record making. What
people/bands need are high quality recordings that can be used for promotions
(getting signed) as well as a handy way to make some dough. When Geffen Records
signs you to a multi record, million-dollar deal, we hope you will be looking
outside of the Columbus area for production.
That is not to say that there isn’t a lot of talent here, but we need
to be serious for a moment. Essentially
we are talking “DEMO”. A demo can be a full-blown
compact disk, or a five song (EP). What
exactly is a demo? Demo or, “demonstration.” Something serving as proof or evidence. In essence you want something that will represent you in your absence, and a compact disc of your recordings suits that need just fine. What we strive for in this case, is something that you feel represents you, and the direction you are going. It showcases your strengths and abilities, and it serves as a mini Bio. If you are
lucky and manage to get your recording into the proper hands and it gets
“heard,” the next step will be a live evaluation of your abilities. How
tight a band is in a live situation is as important as the Demo itself. Record
Companies look at the total picture. A nifty over priced over produced compact
disk coupled with a poor live performance will only serve to lose your deal for
you. Strive for balance. Demo
records as produced locally, will never go to production “as is.” More than
likely, they will be totally reproduced under the guidance of a record label. There are
several studios around that produce high quality demo material. The cost can
vary greatly. At $35.00 per hour we blow away any competition. That is less than
a third of the cost of some of the other guys. When your savings are this great
it allows for you to focus more on your creativity and not the clock. If you
have any experience in the studio you know that when things hit the proverbial
brick wall, the last thing you want to worry about is the fact that $60.00,
$100.00 or even $200.00 just went down the drain. As we don’t force a block of
time on you, if things are not working out that day, you can simply chock up a
small loss and call it day. Our liberal, stress free environment will go a long
way to help in the creative recording process. You will feel at home and relaxed
as you record your songs. The choice is yours. You can spend 60-75 Dollars per hour and get a good recording or you can spend $35.00 per hour and get a great recording. We feel the choice is clear. When you want maximum value from your hard earned cash, you will record with us. We want your business and will work with you to get your project recorded and produced on time, on budget, and of the same if not better quality than any other studio around. That is our guarantee to you. Thank you for your time, The EMS Staff
